Short-term Teams Summer Service

Pray for the short-term teams now preparing for summer service around the world. Pray for wisdom and comfort for one team leader from Ames, IA whose mother is dying. She is struggling to care for her mom at the same time she is helping her team prepare to go to Kazakhstan. Pray for another team in Iowa that needs to come together before training in early June.

Ministry in Venezuela

Pray for Ernest and Effie, ReachGlobal staff in Venezuela, as they travel to the Caracas area May 28-30. Effie will be doing teacher training and Ernest will be meeting with a couple of pastors and a missionary candidate. Pray for safety in their travels and the Holy Spirit’s anointing on all the sessions.

Urgent Prayer from CISP

The building the Christian International School of Prague (CISP) had been granted for school next year looks as if it will not become a reality. A team of people from CISP has been negotiating with the city magistrate's office to write a contract that both the school and the city of Prague can agree on. The most recent contract, however, is completely unacceptable to CISP. Leslie, director of CISP, says that, “Unless God does a miracle, we won't have that building next year.” Would you pray that God would show Himself mighty on the school’s behalf? Ask God to give ReachGlobal personnel who teach at CISP and the MKs attending patience and trust that this situation is in His sovereign care.

Ministry in Haiti

Ask the Lord to guide in the development of fruitful ministry in Haiti. Praise Him for the efforts of short-term teams as they minister to many who are hurting there. Pray that people will respond to the need for more teams. The Free Church in Congo is sending two missionaries, Pastor Yambo and Pastor Ibengi to minister in Haiti. Pray that God will bless in the preparation of all the details related to this and to effectively prepare the hearts of these men and their families for this challenge.

Home Assignment

Pray for ReachGlobal personnel traveling to and from their countries this summer. Pray for grace in transition with children of various ages, decisions to be made, preparation for future responsibilities, rest, and refreshment.

Urgent prayer need

David Falconer, retired ReachGlobal missionary to Africa, fell and broke his hip Monday, May 24. Please pray for him during these next few days as the blood thinner he is taking is delaying surgery for 24-48 hours but will be scheduled. 

Summer Camping Preparations

Pray for summer camping season preparations in creative access locations throughout Asia. Ask God to provide English-speaking counselors who can work with local staff, scholarship money and program details. Pray that the camp staff will be prepared to handle situations that are often sensitive. Ask the Holy Spirit to give understanding and acceptance of God’s Word to the campers who are hearing the gospel for the first time.

Christian Counseling Training

Praise God for the 21 students enrolled in the second module of the Christian Counseling Training program May 24-June 5, in Kiev. Pray for travel safety for Dr. Bishop planning to arrive Friday, May 28 to help facilitate this training. Ask God to bless the opportunities He opens for Dennis and Lydia, ReachGlobal staff in Kiev, in their outreach to professional therapists with the gospel.

Need for teachers

ReachGlobal partners with two Christian Schools in Africa (Haven of Peace Academy in Tanzania and Rain Forest International School in Cameroon) and for years have had ReachGlobal staff teaching at both of them. Right now both schools are in significant need of teachers for next school year. Please pray that the Lord will raise up teachers with a heart to invest in the lives of missionary kids and African national students.

English Outreach

May 21-23 is the Rajska Zahrada English Outreach weekend in Czech Republic. Pray for God to be working in the hearts of the high school students Ritch and Susan, ReachGlobal staff in Czech, will be ministering to. Ask God to bless the music ministry of the band, The Witness, as they lead the group in worship and share their testimonies.

Men's Ministry in Poland

Ask for God’s blessing on a new men’s ministry that is taking shape in Poland. Pray for Loren, ReachGlobal staff, and a few others, including a local businessman from New Zealand, who sensed God’s leading to start a forum exclusively for men to encourage spiritual growth and accountability, offer encouragement and affirmation, and develop spiritual leadership.

Hosting a Team in Rio

The Brazil ReachGlobal staff is hosting a team from Carver Bible College May 20-26, in Rio de Janeiro and San Paulo. This is part of an effort on the part of ReachGlobal to reach out to a more diverse population with the goal of expanding the potential pool for ReachGlobal staff. Pray for healthy, safety and God-ordained experiences for this trip.

Training Professors in Latin America

On May 18 and19, Henry, ReachGlobal staff with the Latin America Training Network (LATN) will be training LATN professors to effectively utilize Moodle, LATN’s online learning environment. Praise God for Henry's gifts and knowledge in this area. Pray for him as he is stretched and used of God for the edification of the work in Latin America.

Business Endeavors in Bosnia

Pray for Tom, Sarajevo City Team member, working in Business As Mission (BAM) to launch two or three hot dog cart businesses on the streets of Sarajevo. This is to help nationals have a more reliable opportunity for employment. Ask God for favor in the eyes of city officials for approval of legal applications and licenses in order to launch BAM projects.

Asia Women's Initiative

Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the Asia Women’s Initiative team meeting May 14-16. Pray for God's leading and direction in all aspects of their ministry as they address the needs of oppressed women and children living at risk in Asia. The team will alos be discussing resource materials for distribution at the Asia Women’s Initiative seminar at the EFCA Leadership Conference June 15-17 in Columbus, OH.

Challenges of CAC Ministry

Pray for unity, protection, health, and stamina for the team ministering in a creative access country (CAC). Ask God to grant them wisdom, efficiency, cross-centered living and vitality in their walks with the Lord. Pray for their language learning efforts, especially as they try to learn more “spiritual language,” which is difficult to do in their context.

Outreach Using Jesus Film

On Thursday evenings, the Jesus film is shown in nearby villages where Dave and Patsy minister in Africa. Pray that the equipment would work well so there are no interruptions. Ask God to open the hearts and minds of people viewing the film that they would respond to the invitation for prayer and give their lives to the Lord.

New staff at BCA

Pray for the new elementary principal and teacher (husband/wife) who have joined the staff at Bucharest Christian Academy in Romania. As they raise the support needed, ask God to bring churches and individuals to partner with them. Pray for guidance and encouragement as they adjust to their roles on the faculity team. Pray for BCA that the Lord would meet the need for more teachers for the 2010-2011 school term.

Walking in the Neighborhood

Jonah and Amy, ReachGlobal personnel in France, have a personal ministry project of afternoon walks through their neighborhood. The goal of this walk is not sightseeing, but to make contact with people from the neighborhood and for opportunities to share the gospel. Jonah shared the gospel with a man who had been searching for God in a cult. A week later he spoke to a North African man about God’s grace and the cross of Christ. Later, Jonah was able to explore the question, “who is Jesus,” with a man who believed that all religions lead to God. They had a good conversation about Jesus' life and ministry. When people realize that Jonah and Amy are not French, they frequently ask, “Why are you here?” This always opens up doors for conversation, especially when the answer is, “we work in a church.” Please, continue to pray for Jonah and Amy as they plant seeds of truth in Lyon.

Spiritual Life Retreat

Pray for ReachGlobal personnel who serve in Romania as they have their annual spiritual life retreat May 7-10. Ask God to enrich each missionary's life with a time of refreshment, restoration and renewed passion for Christ and what He’s doing in and through them.

Regional Conference in Manila

Pray for Arlys, ReachGlobal staff member in the Philippines, as she prepares for the EFC of the Philippines Luzon Regional Conference in Manila May 6-8. She will be delivering two messages on personal family finance. Also pray for her as she prepares handouts for her sessions at the pastor’s wives fellowship. Ask God to open opportunities for her to spend time with the pastors wives individually and be an encouragement to them.

Elections in Central African Republic

Presidential elections for Central African Republic were scheduled for April and now have been postponed until this month. Military conflicts still continue in the east (Darfour and Sudan) and in the north (Chad). Over 10 attempted coups during a 10-year period and lots of insecurity with bandits remain. Pray for lasting peace and a viable church planting movement to be ignited with the Fulani, a nomadic Folk Islamic people group.

Romania Team Retreat

Pray for Gary, ReachGlobal staff in Bosnia, as he travels to Romania to be the primary speaker/presenter for the Romania Team Retreat May 4-11. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s anointing on Gary as he speaks on Living and Ministering Awake of Heart.

Outreach Event for Women

Pray for Irene and Joyce, ReachGlobal personnel in England, and another teacher from among our partners who are kicking off a trial series of Heart 2 Heart, a tea and chat time for women on Tuesday mornings. Each week they will discuss different topics, including parenting and relationships, bringing in Biblical principles. Pray for the women who come to Heart 2 Heart to be spiritually hungry and find Jesus as the Living Water and Bread of Life. Ask the Lord to bless the leaders as they prepare each week and that it will be well received.
