Discipleship in Romania

Pray for God’s blessing and encouragement on Doug and Jen, ReachGlobal personnel serving in Romania. Pray for strength and grace for Jen as she manages their household and is involved in their small group ministry. Ask the Lord for continued fruit and teachable hearts as Doug disciples those with whom he has developed relationships. Pray that God would raise up more Romanians for the work of the gospel in Romania. Pray for God to work in amazing ways as Doug and Ovidiu, one of the men Doug is discipling, travel to Prague, Czech Republic for a discipleship/church planting conference June 9-11.

Financial and Prayer Support

Pray for Trinity, ReachGlobal personnel serving on the Rome City Team, and two ReachGlobal candidate couples who are raising financial and prayer support in the U.S. to join this team in Italy. Pray for encouragement, positive responses and for God’s provision through His Church.

Home Assignment

Pray for the ReachGlobal personnel on home assignment visiting their supporting churches and individuals. Our personnel are updating them on their ministries and informing them of their needs. Ask the Lord to bless and encourage the missionaries and their ministry partners as they share with one another. Pray for travel safety, for good health as they keep up with their schedules, and for additional prayer and financial partners.

Finishing the school year

Pray for the ReachGlobal MKs (missionary kids) who are finishing their school year and taking final exams. Pray for wisdom and the ability to retain the information as they study and prepare. Ask God to give them enough rest and good health to have a successful exam period. Pray for God’s blessing on the MKs graduating from high school and college this spring that they will follow the Lord’s leading in their lives as to the plans He has for them. 

Summer ministry teams in Sarajevo

Pray for Larry and Jill, ReachGlobal personnel in Bosnia-Hercegovina, who are hosting two ministry teams this summer in Sarajevo. One of the teams is with Youth With A Mission (YWAM—an international, inter-denominational, Christian missionary organization) from Romania and the other team is connected with ReachGlobal missionaries in Venezuela. Ask God’s blessings on the planning and preparation for the teams who will assist with two English Outreach Camps and other ministry projects. Pray that God will be glorified as these teams serve in the name of Jesus Christ.

Ministry in Peru

Pray for wisdom and guidance for Jim and Kay, ReachGlobal personnel in Peru. Jim is discipling key male leaders preparing them to take over the leadership of Living Hope Church. Kay, who leads the children’s ministry, is training teachers for this ministry and for other educational areas of the church. Ask God to give grace and strength to Jim in his responsibilities of overseeing the church planting team in Chincha and assisting the Tarma team. Pray for him as he is teaching a Greek Exegesis course at the Lima Evangelical Seminary and is one of the main workshop speakers at the ADIEL association of churches (Evangelical Free Church denomination in Peru and Venezuela) meeting this month. 

Women’s Network

Pray for God blessing on the first training session taking place today at the national office in Minneapolis for women in the newly forming Women’s Network. These training events will take place at different times and venues from May-August. Pray for Linda, ReachGlobal personnel on the ENHANCE Team, as she facilitates this training. Pray the Women’s Network will be an effective means to encourage and equip our ReachGlobal women.

Rabies

Pray for a ReachGlobal family in Asia whose young daughter is undergoing rabies shots after being nipped by a dog with canine distemper. Pray that everything would go well and that she would have no ill effects from the medicine or the possible rabies. 

Curriculum for volunteers

Today pray for Linda, ReachGlobal personnel with EFCA CONNECT, as she works with the short-term task force to complete the new curriculum for volunteers who serve cross-culturally for up to one year. Several individuals from Virginia will soon be going through the online portion of this training, and the first live training is scheduled for August.

Personnel Team meetings

Pray for the ReachGlobal Personnel Team meetings in the Twin Cities May 18-20. Ask God to give them wisdom, insight and unity as they listen to one another and strategize on how to oversee and coordinate the ongoing care, training and development of our global family. Pray that this time together will result in resourcing ReachGlobal missionaries to be healthy and effective as they carry out ReachGlobal's mission statement to glorify God by multiplying healthy churches among all people.

Family Bible Conference

Pray for Eric and Holly, ReachGlobal personnel on the East Africa Equip Team. They have been asked to lead a “family Bible conference” in July for the churches and communities in Uganda. Pray for wisdom and clarity as they prepare and offer sessions on marriage training, Bible teaching, evangelism and children’s programs. Pray for Holly as she will help set up a new nursery school. Ask the Lord to bless Eric and Holly’s children as they participate and work alongside Ugandan children.

Ministry in Austria

Pray for Carrie, ReachGlobal personnel in Austria, who is involved with the lunch hangout time at the Lighthouse ministry center. The goal of this time is to be a bridge between the youth that come to the Lighthouse to hang out and play games during their lunch break to the different churches and youth groups. Pray that God will use Carrie to make good connections between these groups. After starting out with almost no registrations for the first two weeks, the program is nearly full. Please pray that more supporters and businesses will back this ministry financially.

Meetings in Minneapolis

Pray for the two days of training, discussion and strategy development May 16-17, at the national office in Minneapolis. Ask God to bless the ReachGlobal staff leaders from the ministry divisions as they dialogue about ReachGlobal ministry strategies and focus on missional alignment. Pray for clear communication, productive networking, and fruitful fellowship.

Kids Club in Tanzania

Pray for Friday Night Club in Tanzania that ministers to a group of 34 children. Ask God to bless the two youth helpers and six leaders teaching God’s character, creation, the fall of man and God’s promises to Abraham about a promised deliver from His Word. Pray for God to be working in the hearts of all these children and youth helpers to understand God’s truth and to be drawn to Him. Pray for wisdom and clarity as the ReachGlobal personnel and the other leaders share His Truth.

Representing LATN

Pray for Ted, ReachGlobal personnel with Latin America Training Network (LATN), who is traveling to Ethiopia representing LATN as one of the 10 most creative theological institutions from Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Ted will work with a research director and nine other schools in developing a study exploring the relationship between the Latin American Church and its seminaries. Praise God for the privilege to be involved in designing strategies that will not only affect the Latin America region but also schools around the globe.

Next stage of relief work

It has been two months since the destruction in Japan caused by the earthquake and tsunami. The government is helping people with food and supplies so the next stage of relief is to move to helping clean houses and listen to people tell their stories. Pray that the Lord will help the ReachGlobal personnel living and working in the devastated areas to find opportunities to help people in this way and to build long-term relationships with them. Ask God to grow and nurture these friendships so they lead to sharing the gospel and giving hope through Jesus Christ.

Training in Chicago

Pray for several EFCA CONNECT team members who are receiving training in Chicago May 10-11. The purpose of this training is to learn how to use a new missions coaching tool, Your Focus on the World. Ask God to give the team members understanding and creativity of mind in implementing what they learn as they work with our EFCA churches in the area of missions.

Student retreat in Czech

Pray for Ritch, ReachGlobal personnel in the Czech Republic, who is participating in the year-end retreat for the seminary students May 9-13. Ask God to give Ritch clarity and wisdom as he leads the devotional times each morning, focusing on spiritual disciplines. Pray for strategic opportunities during the free time to interact with the students. Pray that Ritch will be good at listening, and asking the right questions to help students more clearly see and follow the paths God has for them.

Open House at PBI

Pray for Gary, ReachGlobal personnel in Portugal, who is a professor at the Portugal Bible Institute (PBI). PBI is hosting an Open House on May 7. This is a day when PBI welcomes people in the community to learn about the ministry of the school. It is also a time when faculty and board members have an opportunity to talk with potential students. Pray especially for new enrollments for the next academic year.

National Day of Prayer

May we humbly come before God today, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. Pray that our prayers today open doors for the Holy Spirit to spread the good news of the gospel. Pray that the ReachGlobal mission to glorify God by multiplying healthy churches among all people would be at the forefront of our global ministry. Pray that God would give us favor as we develop, empower and release ReachGlobal personnel and national partners to impact 100 million people with the gospel over the next decade.

Lima partnership

Pray for Keith and Enrique, ReachGlobal personnel with Latin America Training Network (LATN) as they travel in May to Lima, Peru to sign a partnership agreement with the Evangelical Seminary of Lima. This strategic partnership will include faculty training, the use of LATN’s courses, and the possibility of official recognition of LATN’s programs.

Health concern

Pray for Betty, ReachGlobal personnel on the EFCA CONNECT team, who is undergoing chemotherapy following surgery where cancer was discovered. Ask God to help her regain her strength and energy quickly after each treatment. Pray that her health will be fully restored and that God would show Himself to her in extraordinary ways through this.

Team-building retreat

This week the EFCA EQUIP team is having its working/team-building retreat in the Twin Cities area. Ask the Lord to bless and encourage them in their prayer time, team dynamics and ministry focus. Pray for God’s clear leading for the team and physical health and strength for a productive week of planning.
